Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti Specs

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is reportedly scheduled to launch on February 20 (unofficial information), while the RTX 5070’s release date is still a mystery. However, Nvidia is now confirming the specifications of Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti GPUs.

One of the most important curiosities is that both GPUs will use different chips, the RTX 5070 will use the GB205 chip, while the RTX 5070 Ti will use the GB203 chip. Below, we can see a comparison of the dimensions of both chips.

• GB202: 92.2 billion transistors, 750mm² die
• GB203: 45.6 billion transistors, 378 mm² die
• GB205: 31.1 billion transistors, 263 mm² die

RTX 5070 – Specifications

The RTX 5070 confirms that it will have around 6144 CUDA cores, 192 Tensor cores, 48 RT cores, 80 ROPs, and 192 texture units. The GPU clock speed will reach 2512 MHz and the memory capacity will be 12 GB GDDR7. This memory will have a 192-bit bus and a speed of 28 Gbps. The TGP power consumption of this model will be 250 W.

RTX 5070 Ti – Specifications

The RTX 5070 Ti, powered by GB203 chips, is said to feature around 8,960 CUDA cores, 280 Tensor cores, 70 RT cores, 96 ROPs, and 280 texture units. The memory capacity on this model is said to be up to 16GB GDDR7 running at 28Gbps on a 256-bit bus. It’s worth noting that Nvidia’s documents do not mention an 8GB VRAM model at any point. The TGP power consumption is 300 W for this variant.

It will be interesting to see how much of a difference there will be between the two models, but all indications are that it will be significant, given that the difference in the number of cores is 46% in favor of the RTX 5070 Ti.

With just two days to go until the official launch of the highly anticipated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards, excitement among gamers and hardware enthusiasts is sky-high. As evidence of the feverish anticipation, enthusiast camps are already starting to form outside Micro Center stores across the United States, ready to do anything to be among the first to get their hands on the new GPUs.

A post on the Micro Center subreddit revealed that some customers have already set up tents outside the Tustin, California, retail store, hoping to purchase the new graphics cards when they become available. The photo attached to the post shows a small number of tents on the sidewalk outside the store, but we can expect a significant increase in campers as we get closer to the January 30 launch date for the Nvidia RTX 5090 and RTX 5080.

This phenomenon is not new to the GPU world. Camping outside electronics stores for the launch of new graphics cards, especially high-end ones like the RTX 5090, has become a consolidated practice. Already for the release of the RTX 30 and RTX 40 series, there were kilometer-long lines and days-long waits before the official release date. This phenomenon was highlighted during the RTX 30 series release cycle, due to the scarcity of GPUs caused by the 2020 pandemic.

But what drives enthusiasts to endure days of waiting in the cold to get their hands on a new NVIDIA GPU? It’s not just about bragging about being among the first owners. There are two main motivations: to avoid the availability problems that regularly occur on launch day and to escape the clutches of scalpers, speculators who take advantage of the initial low availability to resell the cards at exorbitant prices.

And the conditions for a problematic launch, even for the RTX 50 series, are all there. Scalpers have already been spotted offering “slots” to purchase the RTX 5090 at prices inflated by double or triple the list price (MSRP), thus guaranteeing access to purchase the card at launch. Furthermore, custom models of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are already offered at prices well above the MSRP at some overseas retailers, suggesting a possible shortage of stock at launch. To make matters worse, a report revealed that retailer OCUK had less than 10 RTX 5090s in stock on January 24.

Reviews of the RTX 5090 have already been released, while those of the RTX 5080 are rumored to be released on January 29. Rounding out the lineup, the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 will launch later in February, with the 5070 Ti expected to hit the market on February 20.

The launch of the RTX 50 promises to be full of expectations but also uncertainties. The initial low availability and the threat of scalpers could make it difficult for many enthusiasts to purchase the new GPUs. For those who don’t feel like facing the queues and uncertainties of day one, it will probably be necessary to prepare themselves with patience and wait for the situation to stabilize in the weeks following the launch.

It remains to be seen whether NVIDIA will be able to satisfy the huge demand for its new graphics cards or whether, as has happened in the past, we will be faced with another launch characterized by scarcity and inflated prices. The next few days will be decisive in understanding how the situation will evolve.

According to a confirmation by a US retailer, AMD has delayed the market launch of the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 graphics cards by two months. Instead of January 23, pre-orders for the AMD RX 9070 RDNA 4 series graphics cards will now only be accepted on March 23.

AMD RX 9070 Series GPUs Pre-Orders Start On March 23

It was originally assumed that AMD Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards based on the RDNA4 architecture would debut today, January 23. However, the California company did not reach an agreement with its partners, and the desire to reduce prices to do better than the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000 series resulted in delays. Thus, there are currently not only no new systems in stores, but even their reviews.

The large American store B&H Photo Video Audio now claims that the proprietary Radeon RX 9070 XT models will debut on March 23. Offers for ASUS’s TUF and Prime series confirm this. Unfortunately, their exact specifications or suggested prices have not been revealed.

Is this date real? It’s hard to say because AMD isn’t commenting on the matter. Theoretically, it falls on Sunday, so the review embargo would end on Saturday. This isn’t a very successful date for many editors and YouTubers, but the Red Team have had similar premieres in the past.

It cannot yet be said with certainty whether only pre-orders will be possible on March 23rd, whether there will be general availability in stores or whether the embargo for review will be lifted. Everyone is still waiting for the event announced by gaming boss Frank Azor to officially present the RDNA 4 graphics cards, which also has no date yet.

Finally, it is worth noting that AMD has already started promotional campaigns for the new series of their GPUs. However, this is probably an oversight, and the campaigns have been set with an earlier release date in mind because the banners read “play now” which is unfortunately impossible.
